Stop the mask mandates in our schools

Dear School Board:

​

There is no strong evidence that mask mandates work - particularly in schools.

 

The benefits of masks are minimal. Studies show conflicting results on whether masks are even protective. Additionally, children are far less likely to suffer any negative consequences from COVID-19, especially compared to other respiratory illnesses.

​

On the other hand, the harms of masking are real. Children need to see facial expressions to develop their communication and language skills.  

 

That is why I insist that the school board pass a resolution at the next school board meeting to:

  1. Tell Governor Beshear and the Kentucky Department of Education that our county will not enforce the mask mandate, and

  2. Clarify that our county's schools will not take any disciplinary action against those who do not comply with the mandate.
