Stop the mask mandates in our schools

Dear Allen County School Board:

​

There is no strong evidence that mask mandates work - particularly in schools.

 

The benefits of masks are minimal. Children are less likely to be infected by COVID. Additionally, they are less likely to transmit the disease. 

​

On the other hand, the harms of masking are real. Children need to see facial expressions to develop their communication and language skills.  

 

That is why I insist that the school board pass a resolution at the next school board meeting to:

  1. Tell Governor Beshear and the Kentucky Department of Eduation that Allen County will not enforce the mask mandate, and

  2. Clarify that Allen County Public Schools will not take any disciplinary action against those who do not comply with the mandate.
